The Iconic Puzzle Game Couldn't Win at This Gaming Ceremony — A New Category Might Solve This

Whenever a significant awards ceremony approaches, one notices an outcry for the addition fresh award types to recognize underappreciated efforts and fill the hearts of fans with niche passions.

My colleague previously argued supporting a scary games classification. That would rule. So would strategy board titles, which is a dedicated supporter's campaign. Yet I need to apologize in advance when I prioritize just as with other dedicated enthusiasts, I have a cast-iron argument supporting my request stands as crucial and significant. The demand is this: It's essential to create a classification for brain-teasing titles.

The Genre Classification Challenge

Classifying creative works defies precise measurement; it remains highly personal, and typically generate discussions concluding with vague boundaries. It's understandable that film award organizations steer clear of genre categories. Yet it remains an essential concession for the industry of gaming, that demonstrate such variety they barely qualify as a single art form.

For the full spectrum of achievement in video games to be recognized, and to ensure all game types to receive proper recognition, specific award classifications remain vital.

Existing Game Classification System

The major gaming awards offer these genre categories for Action-oriented games, Adventure-action titles, RPG experiences, Fighting, Simulation and strategy titles, and Sports/Racing games. Between them, these six categories successfully include numerous genres, making space possible for most games within them.

This doesn't apply to brain-teasing titles. No suitable classification appears for their placement. Think about these outstanding current releases, showing diverse approaches: building puzzles of one title, intense tile-matching in a different title, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles from additional release. Where could they possibly go within current classifications? Simply put, no category fits.

Acknowledgment Issues

There are dozens excellent brain-teasers launched regularly without proper recognition in entertainment awards, if they accidentally match for categories like Mobile Game, Virtual reality experiences, or the extremely competitive Indie races.

  • One classic puzzle game received no recognition for anything during that awards season
  • A different innovative game was excluded in 2019
  • Well-received sorting experience got ignored that year
  • Just some brain-teasers managed to sneak into small studio or handheld classifications

Importance of Logic Titles

Frequently they represent compact experiences, but the art of the puzzle game holds tremendous importance. Iconic mobile puzzle games count as the most-played games worldwide continuing this trend for over a decade.

The legendary block-stacking game challenges famous sandbox experiences for the title of best-selling game of all time; it also contends for best game of all time. Brain-teasers form essential building blocks for gaming as medium, while interacting with almost every other genre.

The Solution and Justification

Logic titles wouldn't face such difficulty. One could readily select five nominees engaging, different, qualified experiences each ceremony simply — perhaps, with difficulty, because you’d have to leave numerous deserving experiences.

Restating the point, these include experiences lacking appropriate categories at major gaming awards. Puzzle game makers function at the challenging frontier interactive creation, producing among essential manifestations of the video game form. Similar to cinema stunt performers, they merit acknowledgment. We shouldn't delay 35 years.
