Two Arrests in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the partial shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the T3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody related to a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests follow a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were called at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals injured by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - which police said was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
